UC Interim Director Announced

Herb Ganey has been named Interim Director for the UTSA University Center.

(October 1, 2012) – The UTSA Office of Student Life announces the appointment of Herbert Ganey as interim director of the UTSA University Center (UC) beginning October 3, 2012. He is replacing Lowa Mwilambwe who departs October 2 to serve as the director of the Illini Union at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

A national search for the new director of the UC is planned for later this fall.

Ganey came to UTSA in 2008 as the UC’s business manager where he has been responsible for managing the finances of the UC and human resources related issues for professional and student staff. Before coming to UTSA, Ganey was in the finance office at St. Mary’s University and worked for the New Orleans Public School system. Herbert holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and is currently pursuing his master’s degree in educational leadership from UTSA.

As interim director, Ganey will continue his responsibilities as business manager and also supervise the other departments within the UC which include Events Management & Conference Services, Operations and Building Maintenance, and Marketing and Programs.

“I look forward to continuing the UC tradition of providing excellent service to the campus community,” said Ganey.

“Herb is very familiar with UC processes and systems and I am confident that his leadership during this period will ensure a smooth transition as we identify a new director,” said Kevin Price, UTSA associate vice president for student life and dean of students.
