New student orientation is under way at the UTSA Main Campus. A number of new faces will be visiting the University this month as these new students and their families become acquainted with everything UTSA has to offer. Orientation is a three day event that takes place Tuesday through Thursday throughout the summer.
This year, orientation takes on a football theme and invites all students to “Get into the Game” and receive the tools, knowledge, and experiences they need to be successful. This event is designed to welcome and introduce new incoming students to the University, help them learn about academic requirements, register for courses, and prepare for the transition to college life.
Most orientation events will take place in the UC and include an information fair on Tuesday afternoons. The UC features all its commercial partners— Rios Golden Cut Salons, Frost Bank, the Campus Technology Store, and The UPS Store during the orientation info fair.
Tuesday evenings of orientation are also all about the UC with a “Get Rowdy” event where students enjoy The Roost Game room and other entertainment provided by Student Affairs departments.
Visitors should expect longer lunch lines in the UC Food Court throughout orientation due to orientation guests. Between 200 and 500 guests visit the UC during each orientation cycle.
This year, parents also enjoy a dessert reception and presentation on UC services.
