June Notes 2011

As is the case every summer, we are taking time to complete various projects throughout the UC.

The Housekeeping staff is working diligently to complete a thorough cleaning of the facility as we experience some down time. They are working through both offices and public spaces to make sure all is prepared for the return of more students in
the fall.

The Denman renovation project is complete with only a few items left for the contractor to correct. New ballroom chairs, wood finishes and pendant lighting have dramatically updated and improved the aesthetics of this room. New “smart” theatrical lighting will allow more options for speakers, programs, dances, banquets and other parties and events.

We are also coordinating with the Office of Facilities and outside vendors to install keyless access throughout our buildings. Eventually, this change will eliminate the need to carry keys entirely.

The installation of solar panels on the roof of the UC III building will begin soon. We are excited about the energy and financial savings that will be realized once this project is complete.

Finally, we are working on an electronic UC wayfinding system to be completed during the next academic year. This system will be deployed in all UC buildings and will help guests to efficiently navigate our facilities and find resources.
